Polymath is a fintech company aiming to revolutionize the financial securities market on the blockchain. Traditionally, issuing financial securities (stocks, bonds, debt, etc) requires expensive and complicated procedures only available to the financial elite. That was until we saw the explosion of the ICO market and a new model for raising capital emerge.
The thesis at Polymath was the ICO market was going to change drastically, and the majority ICO's would become Security Token Offerings. This proved to be true. The idea that Polymath originally had was bridge the gap between existing securities regulations and the wild west of ICO's to create a platform which launches securities that: allows 24/7 trading, instant settlement, worldwide availability, and programmable equity.
Bitcoin Exchange
LedgerX is an institutional trading and clearing platform that has received approval from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to trade and clear options on bitcoin. LedgerX is registered with the CFTC as a swap execution facility (SEF) and derivatives clearing organization (DCO).
LedgerX became the first federally regulated bitcoin options exchange and clearing house to list and clear fully-collateralized, physically-settled bitcoin options for the institutional market in July 2017.
After joining the LedgerX team in April 2017, we provided full stack engineering services fixing a wide range of issues, implementing features, and optmizing performance to help LedgerX launch in the fall of 2017. It was a blast working with such an amazing engineering focused organization, really looking forward to seeing LegerX make some big moves in the financial markets in the near future!
Bunch
Bunch (previously Gameroom) is an iOS and Android application that lets people play games with friends over a live video chat. Signup today at www.bunch.live!
We architected and developed the MVP for both iOS and Android in ~2 months. In addition, we helped guide the product development process at 500 Labs to onboard game developers, save development costs, and eliminate feature creep. Bunch has raised over $7.9m and continues to grow 📈🚀.
Auvenir
Auvenir is on a mission to enable a Smarter Audit.
As a Deloitte venture, Auvenir benefits from the agility of a start-up culture while leveraging deep world-class audit and technology expertise. Our long term goal is to facilitate higher trust and confidence in financial reporting and assurance.
The Auvenir platform seamlessly integrates advanced technology to enhance the financial audit workflow, improving efficiencies and communications for auditors and their clients. This includes a robust collaboration tool, as well as patent pending machine learning software that automates routine tasks of the audit process.
We helped Auvenir improve the performance of front end by 200x through the use of modern build tools like webpack 2, code-splitting, minification, and code re-architecture (over 400k lines of code refactored in 3 months). We also assisted in docker build optimization, setup a MongoDB 3.4 replica set cluster with TLS/SSL, and major feature developments such as bank account integration, mobile app 2FA, and much more to get Auvenir to market.

The aerospark platform is a dedicated, open source high altitude balloon platform which does not require much technical knowledge to operate. Users have access to real-time mission control dashboard (aerospark.co) which they can use to send and receive data to/from their payload through a constellation of 66 Iridium satellites (global 24/7 tracking up to 150,000 feet altitude). Because it is all open source, this serves as a useful tool for promoting STEM education in public schools, as well as allowing for suborbital research to be conducted at the University level.
Our maiden launch with the technology was a proof of concept rockoon (a rocket launched from the high altitude balloon) launch from 70,000 feet. Although the ignitor failed to combust, the aerospark platform was able to successfully track and send commands to/from the payload. It was also used by NASA Langley Research center for a trans-atlantic zero pressure balloon mission, and was the subject of a paper presented at the AGU 2015 Fall Meeting in San Francisco.

The Brayton cycle is a traditional power conversion cycle used to convert waste heat into electrical power, however, it has been largely unchanged until the past few years. As a part of Canada's EcoEnergy Innovation Initiative II, Everhusk Inc. was involved with the preliminary design of an advanced Brayton cycle design using supercritical CO2 as the working fluid.
By developing and validating a novel FORTRAN code to rapidly analyze the aero/thermo performance of turbomachinery operating near the critical point of CO2, we were able to brute force design and optimize the steady state design point of the multi-million dollar research plant. Futhermore, MATLAB codes were developed to conducted market research & product planning of a full scale 10MW cycle.

An automated paintball sentry gun based off an Arduino microcontroller. The microcontroller is connected to a WebCam which is fed through an machine vision algorithm to determine where the target is on the screen. This information is fed to the servos which implement a feedback control system to automatically position and fire the paintball gun at the specified target. Targets were simply set to be different colors in this proof of concept demo.

We had from September to May to design, manufacture, test, and race a formula style SAE car against 120 universities across the world. We led the aerodynamics and performance team to develop computational models using ANSYS CFX, optimized engine performance with a dynojet powercommander, manufatured body panels, and designed/manufactured the engine intake system to meet all of the strict competition regulations.
Our team successfully passed the rigorous technical and safety inspection, and placed 8th in cost however our engine (which we bought off craigslist) decided to blow out before the dynamic events. The following year we placed 2nd / 109 in efficiency.

This app was developed to help people find a way into the 3+ HOV lane for the 2015 Toronto Pan Am games. Once a user signs up with Linkedin they can view other professionals who share their commute into the city. If both users accept the request to commute, it will give access to the route navigation features. Supports multi-user rides of up to 5 people, chat messaging, and Uber/Lyft style markers to display where your driver/passenger is at in real time!
Find people to commute with for free at commutero.com!
Hardware
Many developing nations face light and power problems in their rural communities. We wanted to start by addressing that need.
During the Toronto PCH Hardware Hackathon, our team developed a working prototype of an armband which generates electricity using human body heat alone (the difference in temperature between your skin and the atmosphere to be precise).
Our team won first place and roughly $10,000 in prizes to bring our prototype to the next level and are currently researching different materials to optimize the power generation.
Specifically we helped develop the first working prototype over the weekend, which successfully lit up an LED using human body heat alone (no batteries or anything required), and also create www.enlightli.com.

Founded in October 2014, cooked4U is an online platform for home food. Our core competencies are providing home food, convenience and variety of cuisines. The concept of cooked4U was conceived after the founders of the company realized that it is very difficult for busy people to enjoy wholesome home food.
cooked4U is introducing the new concept of “fast home food”. Students, busy professionals and any person who don’t like or know how to cook, end up settling for junk food which costs more than a healthy, and tasty, home meal. cooked4U allows consumers to enjoy convience and variety which are usually two features of junk food, without the junk.
We were approached by the cooked4u team with just an idea, and a few napkin sketches of what they hoped to see. In just under a month, we delivered an MVP which now powers tens of thousands in revenue. This includes all front end design and development, browser testing, and support. As this was a fully customized web application, the backend implements Stripe API for payment processing (weekly subscriptions and order checkouts), as well as Twilio API to send text messages power the logistics and notify delivery drivers automatically when orders were placed. Other features include: Admin dashboard for adding chefs/drivers, company task/goal manager, order histories, metrics, Mailchimp/Mailgun integration, PCI compliance, weekly meal planner, real time updates, customer support ticketing system, and much much more.
Unfortunately it looks like www.cooked4u.com hit the startup graveyard in ~2017 :( after failing to find a sustainable business model.

My dream car has always been a GT40, the only thing stopping me from having my own is the price tag! So when I found a GT40 bodykit online for $300 one summer I knew what I had to do... Destroy a perfectly fine Fiero, and throw the GT40 body on it. It took months of research and planning to make sure everything went smoothly, and the body was successfully mounted into the Fiero after significant modifications to the frame were made. Measure twice, cut once.
Just do it
